Plate fin-and-tube heat exchanger computational fluid dynamics model

Insight into thermal–hydraulic correlations of plate fin-and-tube heat exchangers is great interest in many industrial applications. Numerical simulations allow to efficiently and accurately obtain air-side transfer pressure drop for a broad variety exchanger configurations, provided the numerical method soundly validated against experimental measurements. In this contribution, we present thoroughly computational fluid dynamics model applicable solution conjugate heat-transfer problem exchangers. Favorable agreement with work on four different geometries demonstrated high Reynolds numbers. Three out comparisons agree within 20% experiments. The applied study dependence relation transverse tube array pitch. We show that minimizing angle results enhanced fin efficiency. • A CFD proposed. compare favorably results. Novel application assess dependence. Minimizing pitch improves performance.
